The story behind EZ Money All Day

It started on a cold Saturday in a Lubbock diner, in a booth with a wobbly table and a coffee pot that never seemed to run dry. Four buddies were arguing about the late game, the way they did every week. One of them, a quiet guy everybody called Coach even though he’d never coached anything, had been scribbling numbers on napkins all morning.

“You’re overthinking it,” his friend laughed. “Just pick a team.”

Coach slid a napkin across the table. On it were injury notes, weather in the visiting team’s city, how many miles the road team had traveled that week, and one line circled twice: the public loves the favorite, the number doesn’t.

They didn’t take him seriously until Sunday night, when the napkin turned out to be right. The next Saturday, the waitress asked if “the napkin guy” was coming back. By October, people from other booths were leaning over to ask what was on that week’s napkin.

The breakthrough came during a sleepy Tuesday breakfast. Somebody asked Coach how he made it look so easy. He shrugged, stirred his coffee and said, “It’s not luck. You do the homework, stay disciplined, and it’s easy money. All day.”

The table went silent. Then someone said, “That’s the name.”

They wrote EZ Money All Day on a fresh napkin in gold gel pen, the only pen the waitress had, and that’s where the gold in the logo comes from. The green was for the felt on the old card table in Coach’s garage, where the real research happened every week.

The napkins eventually turned into spreadsheets, the spreadsheets turned into a website, and the guys in the booth turned into members. Coach kept one rule from that very first napkin: if you’re going to put your name on a pick, stand behind it. That’s why Game of the Week and the Thursday Night NFL Lock come with a money-back guarantee.

The diner’s still there, and so is the booth. Legend has it the first napkin is framed somewhere behind the register.
